A Stronger Bond
ONE GIFT. MANY NEIGHBORS.
As the Gowanus neighborhood in Brooklyn changes, small community nonprofits keep our neighborhood connected, creative, and caring - and you can help keep them alive.
When you give to one organization, you give to all! We believe we are stronger together, so as organizations all look to solicit donations at the end of the year, we are binding together to share our cumulative impact on uplifting the Gowanus community. All donations are tax-deductible!
As campaign organizer, St. Lydia’s will retain 50% of all donations, with the remaining 50% evenly distributed amongst other participating partners.
Celebrate A Stronger Bond with a free story hour from Drag Artists for Expression NYC!
Join us Dec 7 at 1 PM at 304 Bond Street for a bilingual (English and Spanish) children's story read by a local drag artist. All are welcome, the event is free, and any donations go toward A Stronger Bond!
How It Works
When you give to A Stronger Bond, you support multiple local nonprofits with a single donation,
and each organization gets a percentage of the gift.
Give between now and December 31, 2025 - all gifts are tax-deductible.
Drag Artists for Expression NYC
Drag Artists for Expression NYC produces storytelling and creative arts programs for children and teens, presented by local drag artists, in libraries, schools, and other community spaces in all five boroughs of New York City, both in person and virtually. Through fun and fabulous educational experiences, our programs celebrate gender diversity and all forms of difference to build empathy and give kids the confidence to express themselves however they feel comfortable.
Forest For Trees is an artist-led collective rooted in ecojustice, ancestral wisdom, and experiential art. We create visual, educational, and participatory works that bridge ecology, culture, and climate resilience. Our public programming activates collective memory, action, and intergenerational dialogue. Through our collaborations with Indigenous activists, scientists, and sustainability leaders, we explore how art can restore relationships between people and planet. Forest For Trees Collective engages communities through exhibitions, residencies, and public activations that turn environmental awareness into embodied experience. Our work has been presented across global climate platforms, universities, and cultural institutions—advancing art as both reflection and remedy in the face of ecological crisis.
One Love Community Fridge works to eradicate hunger, food insecurity, malnutrition, and the stigma associated with all three, through an integrated, multi-generational, and inclusive movement that centers access to fresh foods, nutrition education, and sustainability.
We Lead with Respect, Dignity & Health.
Van Alen Institute is a driving force behind community-led urban design, which believes that local knowledge and care enrich the design process.
Since 1894, Van Alen has invested in people with a passion for improving cities through the power of architecture and design. Our public space projects build unconventional coalitions of designers, local stakeholders, and city leaders, and we support their visions through project scoping, hands-on guidance, and seed funding.
From our home in New York City, our work confronts longstanding power imbalances in citymaking, showcases the vanguard of community-led design, and supports the next generation of designers in creating more just cities.

You’re looking for an experience of the holy. One that is strong enough to lean on, deep enough to question, and challenging enough to change you. If you’re not sure what you believe, rest assured that neither are we. We place practice before belief, trusting that eating, praying and singing together moves us deeper into faith. Instead of trying to figure out what we believe, we’re trying to live what we practice.
St. Lydia’s is a church that gathers to share a sacred meal, as the first followers of Jesus did. Simple unaccompanied music is sung, scripture explored, and prayers offered, all in the context of a home-cooked meal.
