We are located in New York City and meet on the Lower East Side every Sunday evening.

St. Lydia’s is a progressive congregation that grows out of the Lutheran and Episcopal traditions.  Everyone is welcome at the Table.

St. Lydia’s is a new experiment in what the Church might be when the meal we share is at the very center of our life together.  We’ve been meeting since the Fall of 2008.  We’re building this together – come and join us!

Lent at Lydia’s

The season of Lent is a time to strip away what’s extra.  During the six week season, our worship will feel pared down.  We’ll eat soup and bread each week, and meet in the Community Room instead of the sanctuary.

Sit and Eat: Emily’s Blog

Emily, St. Lydia’s pastoral minister, is blogging at sitandeat.typepad.com.  She’s writing for folks that think they might believe in God, but aren’t quite sure what to do about it.  Sermons from our weekly gatherings as well as tips on developing a spiritual practice will also be posted.

Leadership Roles

The body of Christ is made up of many members, working together for the common good.  What is your role in the body?  Perhaps you are called to be a Lead Cook (preparing our weekly meal while inviting others to help), a Deacon (steering our worship forward while inviting participation), a Song Leader (leading the simple, unaccompanied music we sing each week), or a role we haven’t yet thought of!

Fundraising

St. Lydia’s is currently raising a budget of roughly $29,000 to support our ministry for the 2009-2010 year.  We are just over half way there; we need your help to reach our goal!  If you or someone you know is interested in giving, contact us at the e-mail below or send a check made out to St. Lydia’s to:

About St. Lydia’s

St. Lydia’s is a Dinner Church!  We gather each week to cook and share a sacred meal, just as the first followers of Jesus did.  We sing simple unaccompanied music, explore scripture, offer prayers, and feed one another.
